With Melissa announcing some big exciting changes coming her way in her career, I figured I would continue with that theme for my blog post this week! Change can be good and change can be bad… either way, it has a way of bringing on a major initial scare factor when it hits! Especially in wedding planning! You think you have things all figured out, everything seems to be falling into place and then BOOM… a wrench in the plans! Well I’m here to tell all you super organized type A have to-do list for my to-do list brides like myself that it’s oook! Making a change in the middle of your wedding planning doesn’t have to be super stressful! It actually kind of adds even more excitement to the process, and changes always happen for a reason!
So if you think back a few blog posts ago, you’ll remember that Adam and I knew from day one we would be having our reception at Myers Park Country Club, I think when your parents are members at a club, especially one as beautiful as Myers Park, it’s a no brainer! And I read so much about utilizing a club membership can really save you a lot of money. So that decision was made, checked off the list! Well recently, we’ve decided to change our reception venue. Nothing against the country club by any means, I still love it there and think it would make for a gorgeous wedding, but I think our wedding is better suited to play out at the super cool Byrons Design Center in Southend! It’s totally our style, with exposed brick and a rustic vibe in one of our favorite modern and eclectic parts of Charlotte! I’ve said over and over that I’m not the traditional bride and our vision is a rustic late fall wedding, not to be mistaken for casual though… there will be plenty of sparkle! And Byron’s totally understood that and there’s not a doubt in my mind that they will make that vision come to life on November 21st! Another awesome aspect of this venue, they completely take out the middle man. You tell them what you want as far as tables, chairs, linens, special lighting… and they take care of it through party rental companies and lighting specialist, so you don’t have to take on more venders to manage. They also have people on staff to specifically look after you and your groom that night, making sure you’re getting dinner and drinks while mingling and hosting the biggest party of your lives. And the space is so cool, with an elevated space for the bar and cocktail tables, a lounge space with couches which is perfect for a little photo booth area, and a courtyard that will be so cozy with lights and heaters in late November. Not to mention it’s only minutes from uptown and the really awesome hotels we will be using for our guests! It’s exactly what we were looking for, check it out here.
I’m not going to lie, changing the venue 8 months into wedding planning was a little stressful, but I really think it worked out for the best! My advice for taking on changes in your wedding planning… expect them! It’s going to happen! Don’t worry yourself to death over them! It’s easy to get caught up in the logistics of planning this massive party for all your friends and family, but at the end of the day what’s most important is that you’re making the commitment to share your life with your best friend… and no matter where you chose to celebrate that… it will be the most special day of your life! My good friend Pinterest once told me… “If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan, but never the goal!” :)
