Diary of a Charleston Bride | Amelia Claire's Sweets and Treats

One thing I am really looking forward to is our cake tasting! I have a serious sweet tooth so dessert is something that is definitely important to me. It seems like a lot of times a cake can look amazing, with all kinds of beautiful details and fondant but often times the actual flavor is disappointing.  I found Amelia Claire’s Sweets and Treats through Wedding Wire, where she had great reviews on the taste so I am very optimistic and can’t wait to try them for myself in a couple of weeks. Our wedding’s whole theme has really been simple elegance and that is exactly what I want our cake to portray. Another theme of our wedding has been trying to cut back on costs! We are planning to have a small cake on display, then a sheet cake in the kitchen which has saved us a significant amount of money.

When it comes to wedding cakes my personal style is clearly less is more.

I realize that not everyone likes cake which is why we decided to also serve an assortment of petite deserts: flavored truffles, benne cookies, Charleston chews, mini pecan pies and lemon bars. Hopefully this way everyone can find something they like to nibble on after dinner. I think that a traditional large cake is beautiful but there are so many alternatives these days that the custom is slowly going away.
